The mountains have, since time immemorial, a strong symbolism linked to religiosity/spirituality. In the traditions of the east, the mountains have always been the places where silence and tranquility were sought for the practice of inner reflections.

For us Westerners, deep-rooted spiritual teachings have been professed in these settings, including Master Jesus' celebrated Sermon on the Mount, which contains important moral-ethical principles.
